Smart Metering evolving into Smart Grids
Smart Meters are key building blocks for Smart Grids. From mid 2011, we will make our first Smart Grid deliveries based on the ECOS technology, which provides secure remote access to IT networks. This will release the inherent intelligence in the grids, to the benefit of both you and your customers.
Smart Meters take care of energy management at the consumer end and report network quality. The ECOS Smart Grid will allow distributed measurement and control of every device and every parameter on the low-voltage network, for example heat pumps and the charging of electric vehicles. The ECOS solution is a flexible and future-proof investment, which can be started with a wide range of features and then upgraded. The ECOS platform is open. During the lifespan of the system it can be upgraded with software or hardware developed by you or a partner or third party to fulfil future needs.
Consumers can access ECOS via their WiFi interface and have their private energy data displayed on smart phones or computers. Historical data will flow from the web browser inside ECOS, giving the consumer instant consumption data and historical benchmarks.
