Eltel Networks takes over building of TDC fiber networks

2011-10-06

TDC outsources building of fiber networks to consortium Fiber & Anlæg I/S starting from December 1, 2011. As part of the deal 157 TDC employees will be transferred to the main partner in the consortium, Eltel Networks A/S, who will become the biggest player in the Danish fiber infrastructure

Better customer satisfaction, shorter delivery time and lower operations costs are the main objectives when consortium Fiber & Anlaeg I/S takes over the responsibility on December 1, 2011 for TDC’s fiber network that is one of the largest ones in Denmark. Simultaneously Eltel Networks, as one of the three partners in the consortium, takes over 157 mainly technical employees from TDC. They shall – as part of Eltel organization – take care of realizing TDC’s ambitious goals in building of the fiber network.

Helps to mobilize people in peak loading periods

– For us this is a very big deal. By handing over the responsibility for the fiber network to us TDC can focus on their core activities while we will ensure fiber customers a timely installation and efficient fault removal, says Sonny Nielsen, President of Eltel Networks in Denmark.

– Moreover the contract will provide an increased flexibility both for TDC and us. During peak loading situations we can mobilize more of our competent technicians. Visa versa the 157 new colleagues can also carry out tasks of our other customers and will in this way strengthen our overall resource base, he adds.

Experience in major partnerships

Eltel Networks has since its establishment in Denmark in 2005 had a mission to develop intelligent infrastructure solutions that result in smart and efficient solutions for customers and end users.

–We have a long tradition to collaborate with leading operators in the Nordic countries and other parts of Europe both in telecommunications and power transmission. We also have a lot of experience in taking care of employees from other operators in outsourcings as will happen with the TDC contract. Therefore I am sure that integration of the new employees will happen without problems, says Sonny Nielsen.

Awaiting a fast approval by authorities

Together with Eltel there are in the consortium Fiber & Anlaeg I/S the companies Munck Forsyningsledninger and Petri & Haugsted, who shall perform the digging works in fiber installations. Before the contract with TDC will become effective on December 1, 2011, the competition authorities shall give a formal approval of the contract. Both TDC and Fiber & Anlaeg I/S expect, that this will happen without delay and without remarks.
